IGNOU recruitment 2026 is open for 14 non-teaching vacancies. Indira Gandhi National Open University is accepting online applications until 2 November 2026, 11:59:59 PM. Registration began on 3 October.
This recruitment is for experienced technical professionals. Before paying, check both the minimum experience and the specialist duties for the particular role you want.
Two dates to remember: complete the online application by 2 November, then submit the signed printout and self-attested supporting documents by 12 November 2026.
IGNOU recruitment 2026: vacancies at a glance
| Post | Vacancies | Upper age limit | 7th CPC pay level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assistant Director | 2 | 48 years | Level 10 |
| Technical Manager | 4 | 42 years | Level 10 |
| Technical Assistant | 8 | 37 years | Level 8 |
The table summarises the main groups. Read the specific role entry before deciding which vacancy suits your background. A similar job title alone does not establish eligibility.
Choose a specialisation before choosing a grade
The advertisement contains twelve specialist entries within the three broad job groups:
| Grade | Specialisations | Minimum relevant experience |
|---|---|---|
| Technical Assistant | LMS, Networking, Animator, Game Designer, VR/AR, Artificial Intelligence | 3 years |
| Technical Manager | LMS, Networking, VR/AR, Artificial Intelligence | 5 years |
| Assistant Director | LMS, Networking | 10 years |
Why this matters: years spent in general IT support may not demonstrate the work required for an animation or AI vacancy. Match your evidence to the specialist entry, rather than submitting the same generic experience statement for every post.
Who can apply?
The advertised roles require B.E./B.Tech in CS/IT, M.Sc in CS/IT or MCA, with 55% marks or an equivalent grade. Relevant experience is at least three years for Technical Assistants, five for Technical Managers and ten for Assistant Directors. Specialisation requirements vary.
Experience is counted after qualification. Check the notice’s age-relaxation and category rules separately. Prepare a short comparison of your qualification, work dates and duties against the exact role you want.
Application fee and selection
The fee is ₹1,000 for UR/OBC-NCL/EWS applicants and ₹500 for SC/ST/PH/ex-servicemen/women. IGNOU may shortlist through merit, experience or tests and interviews as applicable; no fixed exam date is stated here.
How to apply for IGNOU recruitment 2026

- Follow the portal instructions, review every entry and complete the required payment.

Build an experience-to-role comparison
Use a short worksheet before filling the application. In the first column, write each essential requirement from your selected specialist entry. In the second, record the employer, employment dates and work that support it. In the third, identify the certificate or other permitted evidence you will submit.
Example: for an LMS role, an experience statement that only says “software engineer” leaves the relevant work unclear. Describe the actual LMS administration, deployment or integration work you performed, if applicable, and connect it to your employment records. Do not add skills or projects you cannot substantiate.
Keep essential and desirable requirements separate. A certification can strengthen the evidence of a skill, but it should not be treated as a replacement for required qualifications or experience. If your experience overlaps across two employers, create a date timeline before calculating the total.
Online and physical submission are separate tasks
After submitting online, create a dispatch checklist with three boxes: signed application printout, required self-attested enclosures, and delivery acknowledgement. Tick the first two only after inspecting the actual packet. Record the destination and delivery tracking in the same place as your application reference.
Work backwards from the physical deadline. Printing, obtaining copies and arranging delivery can take longer than clicking the online submit button. Retain a copy of the packet so that you know exactly what was sent. This is a planning method, not an extension of either deadline.
A practical checklist before submission
Keep your degree records, experience certificates and applicable category documents together. Use readable scans with consistent filenames. Check that names and dates match across documents, and retain a separate copy of everything you submit.
Allow time for the physical submission. Keep tracking or acknowledgement details so you can follow up if needed. Check the university website again before submitting for any changed instructions.
