Which qualification matches your post?

  • Navik (General Duty): Class 12 with Maths and Physics.
  • Navik (Domestic Branch): Class 10.
  • Hygienist-I: Matriculation, ITI or equivalent.
  • Yantrik: Class 10 with an approved three- or four-year engineering diploma; alternatively, Class 10 and 12 with an approved two- or three-year diploma.

Board recognition, permitted diploma branches and equivalence rules apply. Navik GD accepts male and female Indian citizens; the other listed roles are for male candidates. Check the official document for the exact birth-date range and category relaxation for your post.

Application fee: do not assume an exemption

The examination fee is ₹550. The notice exempts eligible applicants applying against SC/ST vacancies. Check the category and vacancy conditions before claiming a waiver.

How to check your eligibility in the right order

Start with the post, then check your birth date, school subjects and diploma branch. A candidate can meet the age limit and still fail the qualification requirement. Write the exact branch printed on your diploma beside the accepted branches in the notice; do not treat a similar course name as approval.

Example: completing Class 12 does not, by itself, establish Navik GD eligibility. The subject requirement matters. Likewise, a Yantrik candidate should check both the diploma discipline and its approved duration. These examples illustrate how to read the notice; the recruiting authority makes the eligibility decision.

Read the notification before applying

Open the official CGEPT recruitment notification. Read the sections for your chosen role rather than relying on a general age or qualification summary.

For Indian Coast Guard recruitment 2026, write down the eligible birth-date range beside the date on your certificate. Next, compare the exact course title on your marksheet with the accepted qualification. If either detail is unclear, use the official help channel listed in the notice before submitting.

How to apply for CGEPT

  1. Visit the official SSC website and follow its Indian Coast Guard recruitment link.
  2. Read the registration instructions and select your eligible post.
  3. Enter your details carefully and complete the required uploads.
  4. Review the form, complete any applicable payment and submit before the deadline.
  5. Save the submitted application and payment acknowledgement, where applicable.

Before the final submission, compare names, dates and qualification details with your documents. Also check that each uploaded image is readable. Keep your application reference in a folder you can access when checking updates.

Selection stages and preparation

Selection has four stages, including a computer-based examination, physical fitness and adaptability checks, document verification, medical assessment and document authentication. The official notice explains the sequence and qualifying conditions.

Build a preparation checklist with three sections: study, documents and physical readiness. Use the official syllabus for study planning. For documents, keep a list of what you already have and what needs clarification. This makes it easier to spot missing items while there is still time to act.

A document check that catches problems early

Make a two-column worksheet: “form entry” and “supporting document.” Compare your name, birth date, individual subject marks, qualification dates and category against their supporting records. Mark an item complete only when you can point to the document that supports it.

For a multi-page certificate, open the final upload and check that no page is missing. A scan of the first page alone may omit the qualification, issuing authority or validity information. Preview the uploaded file after submission where the portal permits it, rather than relying only on the copy saved on your computer.

Common application mistakes to avoid

Do not assume that every post has the same eligibility. Similarly, avoid selecting a qualification because its name sounds close to an accepted course. Check the actual wording and any equivalence notes.

Use one consistent set of details across the form and supporting records. Finally, review the official website for updates before submitting. NewsKafe is an independent news website; the recruiting authority’s notification and later amendments govern the recruitment.
